The Peckett & Sons catalogue gave the following details for the class 1287:

In preservation the following alterations have been made:

  • Fitting of vacuum ejector and controls to allow the operation of passenger trains.
  • Replacing dumb buffers and narrow gauge draw gear with traditional buffers and deep buffer beams.
  • Addition of coal bunker on the rear of the cab replacing the original internal coal bunkers.

Future modifications could include:

  • Fitting of Peckett style loco buffers.
  • Possible fitment of steam heat apparatus.
  • Addition of traditional wooden toolboxes.
  • Investigating the possibility of modifying the upper rear cab sheet to make it removeable offering the public better views into the cab and greater crew comfort in warm weather.
  • Possible repaint into original Peckett livery.
